Witches Botanical Pseudonyms

LEARN MORE

In order to keep the ingredients of their spell and potion working secret, Witches would use alternative names, or pseudonyms, as opposed to the traditional and latin names given to the various Botanical's within. You may have heard of many of these as they have been thrown about to suggest some kind of animal cruelty or madness on the Witches Part.

Eye of Newt, Hawks Heart, Horse Hoof  and Crows foot, to name  a few,  are not literally the organs and body parts from these poor wee creatures, but are in fact pseudonyms assigned to them, and learnt only by witches, to keep spell ingredients secret and safe from prying eyes

Here is a list - Knowing the various folk names of plants can also be useful in attempting to determine the ingredients of a spell.
